Business card design.

Carlos is a board game designer and asked me to design his business cards. Carlos already had one published game but wanted to create some branding and business cards so he can promote himself and his new games.

Carlos and I worked through the initial ideas together, This enabled me to get direct response from him and test ideas right from the start and I was getting a good idea of what he was after.

He was keen to make it playful and I used that direction to literally make it a game so we ran through some ideas exploring some simple traditional style games which I thought would fit best with his budget.

After working through a couple of concepts Carlos explained that he would like to use the game to show what games categories he made. Hangman was the catalyst for this, but that worked only if Carlos was with the recipient.

After a bit more thought I showed him a maze style game where we could list the categories of games he makes which lead to his photo.

The initial ideas where a bit simple and too easy. But this also helped Carlos explain to me he would like to also show the game categories he doesn’t do, so he can attract the right kind of games publishers for his future games.

This enabled me to make the maze more complex with the category lines only connecting to Carlos if it was the category he designed for.

Card front.

The front of the card also used assets and themes from Carlo's’s first published game
