Hot drinks app protoype.

When three organised a technology festival in 2015 I was asked by our developers to come up with an app for employees to order coffee, to help reduce queues in Three’s limited space cafeteria.

And I had just a day to create designs.

The idea of the team was to create an app to show off their capabilities but they were also very interested in in becoming a real project in the future, so I treated it as such.

With such a short time frame there was no wireframing so went straight into high fidelity journey maps so the team can build upon.

We chatted quickly about the rough flow, in order for the developers to start building immediately before designs were complete.

Employees can login using their employee details on their phone or tablet wherever they are and order a hot drink. the menu was the same as going to the cafe.

They can select the drink type, size, milk options and syrup.

In the first edition orders were processed asap and the employee would be informed via the app when its ready to collect from the cafe.

They would also earn a free coffee if they bought a certain amount.

Future ideas included ordering for a certain time, delivery to meeting rooms and multiple payment options

It was a massive success at the festival and had a lot of great feedback from employees.

Such an exciting project to deliver under such time pressure and to be able to get positive feedback directly from the people who used it.
